It was another solid year for documentaries and I saw a ton of 'em. Between the usual drops on streaming and the constant and consistent film festival premieres, I saw more than my fair share (and I still have a few to go!)
In Feature Presentation fashion, here are ten (secretly 11!) reviews for some of this year's documentaries. I've tried to avoid titles I've already reviewed or will talk about more in-depth on my Best of 2024 list, from movies about sports to politics to pop culture and more.
Mr. McMahon (2024)
This movie did the
impossible: made me care
about wrestling
The Final: Attack on Wembley (2024)
Scarier than most
of the January 6th
docs, except this one
Luther: Never Too Much (2024)
Luther’s songs made my
Spotify Wrapped because of
this movie. It worked!
Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story (2024)
Can you imagine
seeing that play with him, Bill
Hurt, and Jeff Daniels?
Will & Harper (2024)
These two are so great
and funny together. I
want them to make more.
The Truth vs. Alex Jones (2024)
What a supreme and
total asshole. I’m glad he’s
meeting his match now.
Untold: Sign Stealer (2024)
Love the coach who says,
”We weren’t cheating, we just had
Rain Man on our staff.”
Music Box: Yacht Rock: A Dockumentary (2024)
“What a Fool Believes?”
Yacht. “Private Eyes?” Nyacht. “Sailing?”
Sailing on the Yacht…
The Hobby (2024) and The Hobby (2024)
I saw two movies
called “The Hobby” this year. “The
Hobby” was better.
Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV (2024)
If you want to hear
my thoughts on this series, you
can hear them right here
