After last night's presidential debate, with Independence Day right around the corner and a long election season ahead of us, politics are thick in the air right now. Just like a humid day in the South, it's so heavy that you can taste it when you walk outside.
Let's look at some movies that tackle the touchy subject of American politics, good and bad, fiction and non-fiction, ugly and uglier.
Civil War (2024)
This D.C. doesn’t
look like Toronto. It looks
like goddamn D.C.!
The Distinguished Gentleman (1992)
The nineties were so
great. This would be a drawn out
twelve episodes now.
Killing Lincoln (2013)
You can imagine
my surprise when it said Booth’s
grave is near my home!
Irresistible (2020)
Jon Stewart doing
his best Sorkin. But why?
Jon is much smarter.
The Werewolf of Washington (1973)
One of the posters
at the Washington D.C.
Alamo Drafthouse
The Man (1972)
‘70s tv
movies are a different
breed. A hidden gem.
The War Room (1993)
Stephanopoulos
made his career by being
a total liar
Long Shot (2019)
This actually
made me believe in a Seth
and Charlize romance
Running with Beto (2019)
I like Beto, but
the guy’s a professional
election loser
My Date with the President's Daughter (1998)
If you want to hear
my thoughts on this movie, you
can hear them right here
