A "Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade" Video Mixtape
And the singing jinglinging with the voices all ringing on key!
I absolutely adore the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.* It's essential viewing for me every single year. I love it so much that even my three-year stint working for Macy's didn't stop me.
Here's my video mixtape of parades past, present, and potentially future...
*I also absolutely hate when people call it the Macy's Day Parade. Is that what we're celebrating - Macy's Day? Is that where that famous feast took place, the McDonald's on the 7th floor?
Before the parade can even begin, they have to test the balloons! And, of course, they do that crap in New Jersey. Local news stations do this story every year, but I chose this year's balloons so we can get a sneak peek!
I love watching these videos of Broadway performers rehearsing their slightly rechoreographed musical numbers in the freezing cold a few days before the live performance. Some years it's much colder than others. In this video, a 2021 sorta-masked rehearsal from Wicked, it seems like it was an average cold kind of (one short) day. Once again, I could've chosen anything from a ton of these behind-the-scenes videos, but Wicked seemed particularly appropriate right now for obvious reasons.
Their shoes are cracking me up…
Last thing to do before the parade starts - blow up the balloons!
I just think this video is neat!
